A lot has been in the news recently about Governor Jindal’s proposed education changes, and the Grant Parish Chamber of Commerce has been learning all it can about these proposed changes. Chamber President Tony “Bo” Vets and Chamber Secretary Stephanie Smith attended a forum sponsored by the Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce where State Superintendent of Education John White was the guest speaker. At this forum, Superintendent White outlined the main tenets of Gov. Jindal’s proposal, including reforming teacher pay and tenure, as well as increasing options for school choice for parents. Chamber President Vets participated in a phone conference with other chambers and economic development authorities from around central Louisiana, and also attended a rotary meeting where the Governor presented more on his proposals.
